Threats
1. Dependence of paint industry on real estate: The real estate and the housing segment contribute to 40% of the income of paint industry. The real estate has been in doldrums in India since 2018 and Covid-19 has further worsened the situation. It is expected that the Covid-19 era would lead to massive job cuts due to lockdown and restrictions of social distancing. This would further derail upcoming projects and the launch of new projects would decrease by 15-20%. The working class has been the regular homebuyers in India. They have been severely impacted with salary cuts, layoffs and shaving off from their savings to make ends meet. Site visits would be decreased substantially and major investments like real estate would be avoided and buying decisions would be delayed. As the real estate faces the brunt, the paint industry, being the former's meta-market, is slated to be impacted heavily in short and long terms.
