1. Initiatives to reduce carbon footprints: Since 2012, BNP Paribas Fortis has reduced its paper usage by 79 percent and its CO2 emissions by 66 percent. The Bank has pursued a policy of acquiring only "green" electricity since 2015. Additionally, they take all reasonable measures to keep their direct GHG emissions to a minimum and work to further reduce the organization's overall carbon footprint by taking action to offset any leftover emissions. Currently, photovoltaic panels have been installed on the roofs of the BNP Paribas Fortis logistics building in Brussels. These panels generate an average of 314,000 kWh of electricity annually, which is equal to the annual energy needs of 90 households.
