Strength

1. Leader in infrastructure steel products: Evraz Group is the global market leader in diversified infrastructure steel products. These infrastructure steel products are segmented into transportation, construction, industrial and value-added products. In transportation sector, Evraz Group manufactures rail tracks, conductor rails for subway, railway wheels, track super structure section etc. Similarly, I-beams, channels, angles, sheet piles, wires etc. are some of the infrastructural products in the construction sector. Similarly, the group produces cast iron, mandrel bars, rectangular billets, slabs in industrial sector and value-added products. Evraz Group has a firm footprint in Russia and North America.

2. Largest coking coal producer in Russia and leading market player globally: Evraz Group ranks first in Russia for coking coal production. The production and mining of coking coal is utilized mainly within the Group in a steel making process post which it is sold to domestic customers and Asian and European countries. There is a wide spectrum of coking coal that is produced with different blends like hard, semi-hard and semi- soft coking coals. The Evraz Group has witnessed increased sales by 3.1 % whereas production has increased by 8.1%. Exports have also surged by 7% to 27 million tons in fiscal 2019. The group holds a strong dominance in Asian and European coking coal markets.

Environmental

1. Combating climate change through reduction in greenhouse gas and air emissions: Every organization has to contribute to address climate change and reduce carbon and water footprints. After the 2015, Paris climate agreement, laws and regulations have become very stringent. Organizations across the globe have shown inclination towards accomplishing sustainability in their operations and in parallel reduce their carbon footprint. There has been a general trend of divorcing from organizations not adhering to the norms of the agreement. The Evraz Group has adapted technologies that help in reducing CO2 emission. In the recent years, installation of Electric Arc Furnace in its operating sites like Evraz Regina has resulted in reduction of the use of fossil fuel which instead gets heated with the help of the Electric Arc. Similarly, Evraz ZSMK is installing Off Gas desulfurization unit and electric precipitator restoration. Other sites are also following the same trend of installation of gas cleaning units.

2. Water treatment and air treatment technologies adopted: Evraz Group has been taking measures to implement water protection program at its facilities. One such program was started in Raspadskaya mine in 2012 and modernized mine water treatment was completed by 2019. This led to doubling the treatment capacity of mine water and in reduction of the discharge of suspended solids by 62% and discharge of oil by 65%. From 2020 to 2024 another 6 projects’ are scheduled to be implemented with a total capital of US $ 20 million to enhance water treatment, of which 3 projects have been completed. The treated water is reused for the operational tasks in mine and plant. Similarly, new technologies are adopted for air treatments as well.
