Juniper has a total of $48 billion opportunity in total addressable market. Switching market is a total of ~$27 billion opportunity and 4% CAGR out of which Juniper has just about 4% market share. Routing market is a total of ~$12 billion opportunity and 3% CAGR out of which Juniper has about 16% market share. Security market is a total of ~$8 billion opportunity and 6% CAGR out of which Juniper has just about 4% market share. Acquisition of wireless device maker - Mist Systems: In March 2019, Juniper enrolled into an agreement to buy advanced wireless-gear-maker Mist Systems for $405 million which can be a game-changing opportunity for Juniper’s wireless business. The company also dependents on agreements with partners like Aerohive and Aruba to deliver wireless tech. Mist's artificial-intelligence-based wireless platform makes Wi-Fi more predictable, reliable and measurable. Juniper needs a strong wireless technology to adequately compete against other enterprise networking players such as Cisco, HP/Aruba, Extreme and Fortinet.
3. Opportunities in Enterprise and Telco segment: Juniper is constantly progressing in the strategic enterprise sector nevertheless Telecom/cable segment exhibits a long-term opportunity in the revenue growth. Year over year growth from 2016 to 2017 was observed in the enterprise's segment due to healthy demand for enterprise switching portfolio and with a release of a series of new enterprise switches and security products in the market. Year over year decline from 2016 to 2017 in growth and revenue was subdued by improvements in the security business.
