About Kuwait Projects Company (KIPCO) :
Kuwait Projects Company (Holding), often known as KIPCO, is the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) investment holding company. The company owns a large portion of a portfolio of over 60 enterprises operating in 24 countries. KIPCO was founded on August 2, 1975, under Article 94 of the Kuwaiti Commercial Companies Code, Law No. 15 1960. Financial services, media, real estate, and manufacturing are the group's core business segments. KIPCO has interests in the education and medical sectors through its main firms, subsidiaries, and affiliations. Financial services and media are two of KIPCO's main business categories. Burgan Bank Group, one of the region's largest banking organisations with operations in Algeria, Iraq, Kuwait, Malta, Tunisia, and Turkey, is one of KIPCO Group's financial services companies. KIPCO also owns a majority stake in Gulf Insurance Group, a regional insurance conglomerate with operations in several countries. In the media sector, KIPCO owns a majority stake in OSN, the region's largest and most successful pay-TV provider, which uses cutting-edge technology to broadcast high-quality Arabic, English, and Filipino content. Kuwait Projects Company (Holding) announced in March 2022, that it had reached a preliminary deal to merge with Qurain Petrochemical Industries Company (QPIC).
KIPCO's USP is that it is the market leader in investment holding companies, with its subsidiaries Burgan Bank being Kuwait's second most conventional bank and OSN is the region's first pay-TV platform. KIPCO is dedicated to making meaningful contributions to society in addition to wanting to be a worldwide corporate leader. Kuwait has highlighted three areas for improvement in Kuwaiti society to improve the country's long-term prosperity: education, youth welfare, and health.

Strength
1. Steady growth in OSN’s subscriber base: OSN has been able to raise the number of OTT subscribers from 80,000 at the beginning of 2020 to over 300,000 by the end of the year. For the entire year the OTT platform was in an expansionary mode and now Is able to deliver its content in 25 countries in the region. The lockdown period increased the consumption of content and this along with OSN’s refreshed user interface and addition of Disney+, helped it enhance its attractiveness among users. Apart from providing one of the best mixes of exclusive Arabic and Western content, OSN has now started to offer Originals also, three of which were launched in 2020, and five in the first nine months of 2021. This exclusive content in the region, together with OSN’s successful partnerships with major telecommunications companies has helped it emerge as one of the best players in this sector.
2. Strong increase in revenue of Burgan bank: The Burgan bank is KIPCO group’s most important holding, and it is one of the largest banks in the MENA region with operations in Algeria, Iraq, Kuwait, Malta, Tunisia, and Turkey. The bank posted a net income of US$134 million in the first 9M of 2021 compared to US$108 million in the first 9M of 2020, which is a stellar 24% growth. The operating income for the first 9M of 2021 was US$552 million which was higher by US$7 million compared to the first 9M of 2020. For the same period deposits grew at a healthy rate of 6%, or US$846 million vs. FYE 2020 to reach US$14.4 billion as of 30th September 2021. Their loan book also remained stable overall, with the Algerian book growth by around US$116 million. Though the Turkey loan book reported a decline it was mainly due to currency devaluation. These strong financials, despite the pandemic, enables the bank to further enhance its foothold in the region.
