About Safran S.A. :

Safran S.A. is a French multinational company founded in 2005. It is a multinational aircraft engine, rocket engine, aerospace-component and defense company. A merger between the aircraft and rocket engine manufacturer and aerospace component manufacturer group SNECMA and the security company SAGEM, resulted in the birth of Safran in 2005. Safran took control of Zodiac Aerospace in 2018, significantly expanding its aircraft equipment activities. Safran is headquartered in Paris and employs over 95,000 people as of 2020. The name 'Safran' translates as rudder blade and also as saffron, which is attributed with triggering early international trade. A launcher joint venture called Airbus Safran Launchers was created by Safran with Airbus Group in May,2015. The Safran group is divided into three main branches; the first is the Aerospace Propulsion branch which groups all operations concerning the propulsion of aeroplanes, helicopters, missiles, and launchers, for the civil aviation, military aviation, and space markets: design, production, marketing, testing, maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO). The second division comprises the Aircraft Equipment, Defense and Aerosystems branch which oversees all design, production, sales, and support operations for systems and equipment used by civil and military airplanes and helicopters, and the third is the Aircraft Interiors branch which groups the cabin interiors, passenger and technical seats, cabin equipment and solutions focused on passenger comfort. This French defence MNC features on the Euronext stock exchange's list and is a part of the CAC 40 and Euro Stoxx 50 indices.
Safran's Unique Selling Proposition or USP lies in it being the leading international high-technology group and top-notch supplier of systems and equipment in the Aerospace and Defence markets. Safran’s mission statement reads "Safran is helping America's armed forces and those of allied nations around the world meet their missions with a wide range of advanced technologies – many of which are produced and supported by Safran businesses in the United States."

Multiple contracts and agreements with airlines for provision of aircraft interiors and equipment: In the year of 2019, multiple contracts and agreements were announced at various events with Safran as the supplier. For instance, at the 2019 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition in Las Vegas, it was announced that Safran will supply the complete nacelle for Gulfstream Aerospace's G700 business jet (Pearl 700 turbofan) and also signed the contracts for providing carbon brakes for over 850 aircrafts in the same year. Moreover, the firm was selected by the NSPA for the delivery of long-range multifunctional thermal imagers to the Danish Armed Forces as well as the contract for providing 1,000 multifunction infrared goggles and 8,000 stereoscopic night vision goggles to Armasuisse was won by Safran. In case of the supply of Aircraft Interiors, Safran was selected by major Asian and Pacific airlines for supplying the galleys of A330neo line-fit, Hybrite trolleys as well as first class, business class and premium economy class seats.

1. Harmonious development of air transport by noise reduction: Safran aspires to foster harmonious development of air transport by reducing noise created during take-offs and landing. In order to achieve this, the company is involved in designing equipment for a quieter aircraft. As of present, Safran is focussing on aircraft engines and equipment, especially landing gear to enhance noise reduction. As a result of concerted efforts, there has been a 4-fold noise reduction from single-aisle commercial jets in the last 50 years, 15 dB noise reduction from LEAP engines as compared to previous generation, and 50% and 65% reduction is expected in noise generated during take-off and landing as well as from air transport by 2020 and 2050 respectively.

2. Innovating sustainable products to lower the carbon emissions and fight against climate change: Companies across the world are encouraging sustainable development by the fulfilment of the requirements to protect the environment by operating on and designing suitable and sustainable products and services. As a part of its general strategy to reduce the environmental footprints, Safran has undertaken the challenge of managing the production facilities more efficiently and designing environment-friendly products. In early 2008, a carbon footprint measuring tool was deployed to keep track of all greenhouse gas emissions. By doing so, the company seeks to address the climate change issues and scarcity of fossil fuels. Also, the level of CO2 emissions is minimized by developing aircrafts with more electric components such as electrical actuators for thrust reversers, electric brakes and electric taxiing system. Safran also actively participates in bio-fuel research programs.
