Detailed SWOT Analysis of The Boeing Company

Strength

This section is available only in the 'Complete Report' on purchase.

Weakness

1. High pension spending: Boeing's benefits stack remained at a strong $75 billion or more toward the finish of a year ago, much more than the reasonable estimation of its arrangement's advantages. This is compelling the organization to ceaselessly plunge into its income to meet its commitments to resigned laborers. The benefit deplete will undoubtedly continue, as well, despite the probability of better speculation returns and endeavors to arrange less-exhausting annuity designs with its worker's organizations.

2. Trade dispute between Boeing and Bombardier impacting Boeing’s defense sales: The ongoing trade dispute between Boeing and Bombardier over the allegations of the latter selling its CSeries aircraft in the United States at below market prices due to subsidies it receives has impacted potential sales for Boeing Defense. The Canadian government may prefer other European companies to acquire fighter jets instead of Boeing.

3. Weak operational performance in defense and space segments: The commercial segment is performing well but same cannot be said in other segments. BDS (defense services) earnings from operations in 2016 decreased by $266 million compared with the same period in 2015 due to lower earnings of $233 million and $80 million in the Network and Space Systems (N&SS) and Boeing Military Aircraft (BMA) segments. BMA earnings from operations in 2016 decreased by $80 million compared with 2015 primarily due to lower volume and mix on the CH-47 Chinook, and C-17, partially offset by higher volume and mix on the Apache and P-8 programs.
