Opportunity

1. Strongly positioned to capitalize in the evolving automotive industry environment: The concurrent automotive technology trends like electric cars, autonomous and hybrid vehicles are opening up avenues for OEM investments in new EV platforms and calling for advanced electrical architecture which increases pace of digital cockpits. For autonomous vehicles too, there is increased interest at OEMs in Level 3 ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) and Level 3 systems require centralized computing power. Futuristic trends require electric vehicles to be connected, low weight, low on power consumption and are equipped with digital cockpits. Visteon is having platforms in place, like “smartcare” for ECU consolidation, “phoenix” for Display Audio, “dicore” for Digital Cluster and “drivercore” for autonomous driving to support these macro trends which are rapidly gaining traction.

2. Transformation from digital to autonomous: Visteon being an established global leader in cockpit electronics technologies is well geared to provide solutions as the industry embraces autonomous vehicles. The market for digital transformation of mobility is maturing rapidly. The Company's approach to autonomous driving is to feature fail-safe centralized domain hardware, designed for algorithmic developers, and to apply artificial intelligence for object detection and other functions. Visteon is working on a level 3/4 secure autonomous driving domain controller platform with an open framework based on neural networks. Level 3+ system requirements include systems with environmental monitoring radar, camera and LiDAR sensors, and late fusion of sensor data, scalable centralized computing and machine learning algorithms. The American technology behemoth is adopting a disciplined approach to progress autonomous technology via collaborations with key partners, customer partnerships and strategic investments. The potential impact of autonomous vehicles will be revolutionary and the show will be run by a range of technologies to perform the entire dynamic driving task which presents a great opportunity for Companies like Visteon.

3. Increasing regulations on safety and security: Governments of various countries continue to raise safety standards for mobility. Nations are investing regulatory efforts on safer transportation. In line with this, OEMs are working to enhance occupant and pedestrian safety by equipping the vehicles with more safety-oriented technology. To top it up, in-vehicle connectivity has hiked the necessity for robust cyber-security systems to protect data, applications and associated infrastructure. Security features are in parallel improving with advances in sensors and silicon. This is indeed a great opportunity for companies like Visteon to respond to these increasing and advanced safety needs and work towards enabling the security/safety initiatives of their customers including the development of new technologies.
