  1. Use of sustainable and environmentally certified products: It has been a sincere endeavor from the part of the Coles to use only sustainable products in their transactions with the customers. In 2020, Coles took another step towards being Australia’s most sustainable supermarket, incorporating Fair Farms Certification into the Coles Ethical Sourcing Program and continuing its transformation strategy. Since January 2014, all the chicken used by Coles has been raised in the RSPCA approved farms. Along with the use of the fresh products, Coles has started using 100% certified sustainable palm oil for all their branded products in the supermarket and the convenience stores. WWF recognized the effort by Coles and in 2013 Coles was recognized in Palm Oil Buyers Scorecard and was given the highest score for any Australian retailer. Coles sources more than 160 paper products which are forestry sustainability standard and certified under PEFC. Coles has joined hands with many research study analysts in their pursuance towards using sustainable and more eco-friendly products for the customers.
