Detailed PESTLE Analysis of Tele2 AB

The detailed PESTLE analysis for Tele2 AB is presented below:

POLITICAL

  1. Ban on Chinese telecom equipment providers in Sweden:Following the trade war tension and diplomatic pressure from Washington for tightening security from Chinese equipment’s data collection practices, many European countries are banning Chinese products. A new ban includes telecommunication product sellers such as ZTE and Huawei being banned for use by its telecom for 5G upgrades by the Swedish government. Similarly, the UK government has ordered to remove and stop purchasing all equipment from Huawei till 2027. While 5G auctions are being taken, the impact of this ban is that significantly fewer options will be available for carriers for 5G infra upgrades, mainly Ericsson and Nokia, and the rollout could be slower than expected. It could quickly be creating a duopoly and increase costs for 5G infra upgrades. Tele2 AB uses Huawei network devices in its existing infrastructure. Huawei was an essential vendor for Tele2 for 5G upgrades. However, post-ban, Tele2 will have to look for other manufactures for infrastructure upgrades.
