Detailed SWOT Analysis of Travel + Leisure

The detailed SWOT analysis for Travel + Leisure Co is presented below:

Strength

  1. Strong and resilient business model: Through the previous two recessions, Travel + Leisure remained resilient and capital-efficient. Margin, return, and adjusted FCF are the best in the industry. The main advantage TNL has over rivals in the sector, like Airbnb or Expedia, is that it has a reliable source of income from managing timeshare properties. It was one of the factors that kept the company's operating revenue in the positive range. TNL currently manages 26,000 timeshare apartments, with an average income per apartment of $6,000 per quarter. The number of timeshare apartments is expanding at a 2% YoY rate, which is consistent with our expectations for the forecast period. As a result, at the current rate of inflation in the United States, an increase in average apartment revenue is expected. This allows you to live steadily even during difficult times, such as when the demand for recreation is almost non-existent. That is, unlike Airbnb or Expedia, it is a natural hedge for the company.
  2. Diversified brand portfolio: Travel + Leisure has well-known brands with a select-service emphasis and provide franchisees with a diverse range of choices, as well as a diverse range of price points and experiences. It is a global leader in the economy and midscale chain scales with approximately 35 percent of branded rooms in the US. The company has a growing presence in the upper midscale, lifestyle and upscale chain scales. With nearly 900,000 owners in its system, Travel + Leisure is the largest time share operator. Following the announcement of the Diamond Resorts acquisition, Hilton Grand Vacation is the company's closest competitor given the combined size (roughly 720,000 owner families), followed by Marriott Vacation at 660,000 and Bluegreen Vacation at 219,000.

Detailed PESTLE Analysis of Travel + Leisure

The detailed PESTLE analysis for Travel + Leisure Co is presented below:

POLITICAL

  1. Political stability across geographies: The company has its operations in over 110 countries which exposes it to more political risk, which can include the instable government rule in any particular country. This makes operations inefficient and can lead to loss of business because of changes in the political atmosphere. Wyndham operates mostly in stable countries, but for example, the recent instability in Hong Kong must have bought the business to a standstill. The ongoing Russia-Ukraine war will also have an impact as travel in these countries are restricted which can affect the company’s revenue.
