1. New lock-down in Europe and Americas can have repercussion on the growth prospects: The Covid-19 pandemic since it advent in January, 2010 in Europe and the Americas had compelled the economic activity to halt due to imposition of nation-wide lockdowns. This rendered thousands jobless, and those who were fortunate did manage to save their jobs by working from home. All these circumstances led to a precipitous decline in consumption and eventually the economy crashed. The situation eased when the Covid-19 cases started decreasing, giving an impression that the pandemic situation is nearing closure. People started to re-join their works and coming out of their homes who were long feeling trapped. As a result, a second-wave of the virus is said to have hit the Europe again with a surge in the Covid-19 cases; the economy which was showing a sign of recovery is again set to de-rail due to imposition of new lockdowns and curb measures. This has resulted in massive job losses, consumption loss and decline in GDP. Adecco would not be an exception to the second imposition of lock down and revenues and growth targets would definitely be impeded.

Government of India’s promugation of ‘Production Linked Incentive’ will boost employment in 10 sectors: To provide the much-needed impetus to the shrinking industry, the government of India following the footsteps of the governments of developed economies has recently approved “Production Linked Incentive (PLI)” scheme worth INR 2,000 billion for 10 sectors to provide push to the manufacturing sector and to cater to the exports. The PLI incentive was offered for the sectors which included Pharmaceutical, specialized steel, auto, telecom, textile, food products, solar photovoltic and cell battery. In this backdrop it is fair to predict that these sectors will see generation of employment opportunities and attract a fair share of growth for Adecco’s business. Adecco, being a leader in the market is in a position to adapt it services to the requirement of the industry. The recent years have seen some note-worthy relaxations in the taxation laws which were targeted to benefit the manufacturing sector. The governments of developing nations like India, Indonesia, Malaysia etc. are committed to attract more investment in their country and boost consumption and exports. Thus, the political environment in the developing countries can be strategically looked upon by Adecco which has significant presence in Europe and America. Adecco can eye the opportunities of ramping up its business in the developing countries too, to have a significant presence in the Asia Pacific region too.
