About State Bank of India (SBI) :
State Bank of India (SBI) is an Indian multinational, financial statutory body and a public sector bank. It is headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It is a nationalised bank, and the largest bank in India with a 23% market share by assets and a 25% share of the total loan and deposits market. In the 19th century, Bank Of Calcutta which was established on 2 June 1806, was one of three Presidency banks and the other two being the Bank of Bombay which was incorporated on 15 April 1840 and the Bank of Madras which was incorporated on 1 July 1843. These Presidency banks merged on 27 January 1921, and the re-organised banking entity was renamed as Imperial Bank of India and in the year 1955, the Imperial Bank of India became the State Bank of India. State Bank of India, offers a range of banking products through its network of branches in India and overseas, which also includes products aimed at non-resident Indians (NRIs). It has 16 regional hubs and 57 zonal offices that are situated at important cities throughout India. In India the bank has 24,000 branches and 191 overseas offices spread over 36 countries. In March 2020, State Bank of India acquired 48.2% of the shares of Yes Bank as part of RBI directed rescue deal. State Bank of India is ranked 221st in the Fortune Global 500 list of the world's biggest corporations of 2020 and also 43rd largest bank in the world. As of early 2022, the company leverages the talent of around 249,500 employees.State Bank of India's Unique Selling Proposition or USP lies in it being the biggest nationalized bank in India and being the owner of one of the largest banking networks in the world. SBI's mission statement reads, "We will be prompt, polite and proactive with our customers. We will speak the language of Young India. We will create products and services that help our customers achieve their goals. We will go beyond the call of duty to make our customers feel valued".

The State Bank of India is committed to provide best service through extensive list of products and services under the same roof. SBI offers personal banking to its customer through loans, salary accounts, wealth management etc. It has over 36 lakh home loan customers. SBI also offers SME financing and is a market leader in providing innovative financial solution. SBI offers products and services in rural banking, government banking, corporate banking and international banking.
2. Largest domestic bank with international presence and strong government backing: State Bank of India has a dense presence in India making it the largest domestic bank with over 24000 branches and over 58000 ATM’s. The bank also increased its presence in rural India when the government lunched Pradhanmantri Jan Dhan Yojna wherein the bank organized many camps and opened 3 million bank accounts in one month. Under this scheme government transferred funds to beneficiaries. Additionally, SBI has a strong international presence across North America, Europe, South America, Middle East, Africa, Australia and other South East Asian countries. Apart from international branches, State Bank of India has subsidiaries, joint ventures and non-banking subsidiaries. Net profit of foreign branch and subsidiaries was recorded as US $ 471 million for fiscal 2019. Government of India has a 61% stake in State Bank of India.
