1. 3D printing disrupting traditional manufacturing processes: 3D printing, also called as additive manufacturing is a latest technology, which finds wide application in manufacturing industry. A 3-dimensional part is developed from the design that was fed to the computer by depositing successive layers of material one above the other. It takes comparatively very less time to be manufactured as compared to traditional methods, and the parts created are lighter in weight and cheaper in cost. Using 3D printing technology, the allowable flexibility and complexity of the design is increased. Wabtec has produces more than 1250 prototypes and 12-part types using this technique.
