The company has 87 franchised locations in 12 states, mostly in California, Texas, and the Southeast, as well as approximately 30 EchoPark used-car shops. The company earns money from parts and collision repair, finance, insurance, and wholesale auctions in addition to new and used vehicle sales. On April 26, 2022, Sonic Automotive, Inc. announced the opening of its newest delivery center in Columbus, Georgia, as part of the EchoPark Automotive brand's continued expansion. The company is on track to reach 90% of the US population and generate $14 billion in revenue by 2025, according to its ambitious expansion plan.

1. A diversified portfolio of products and services: The company has two reportable segments, Franchised dealerships and EchoPark segment and four main services that it provides. For the year ended 31st December 2020 new vehicles sales, used vehicle sales, fixed operations, F&I and others accounted for 44%, 38%, 13% and 5% of the total revenue respectively. The company represents approximately 30 different automotive brands with the majority of its dealerships being luxurious and import brands. For the year ended 31st December 2020, BMW accounted for 24.4% of the total revenue. Other brands like Honda, Mercedes, Toyota, Audi, Lexus, Ford, GM, Land Rover, Porsche, Cadillac accounted for 13.5%, 12.9%, 9%, 6.5%, 4.9%, 6%, 5.8%, 4.9%, 3.6%, 2.3% respectively. Other Luxurious and non-luxurious brands accounted for 6.2%.

Opportunity
1. The expansion of the EchoPark Segment will provide long term benefits to the company: The EchoPark segment sells used cars and light trucks and arranges F&I product sales for its customers in pre-owned specialty retail locations. EchoPark segment operates independently from the company’s franchised dealerships segment. Sales operation for EchoPark segment began in the fourth quarter of 2014 and as of 31st December 2020 the company operated 16 EchoPark stores in 8 states. In the fiscal year ended 31st December 2020 EchoPark Segment represented approximately 14.5% of the total revenue whereas in the fiscal year ended 31st December 2019 it only recorded 11.1% of the total revenue. During the year 2020 the company has announced an accelerated EchoPark growth plan in which it hopes to open 140 plus stores by 2025 which is much bigger than the previously announced five-year plan of at least 25.
